Thanks to everyone who everyone who gathered with us now and then, Sandra and I have read aloud, with others, all the plays that won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama during its Centennial year, from last May’s Why Marry? to last night’s Hamilton. Hooray for Us!

Speaking of last night’s celebration, if you missed it, you missed it. Those who knew the score (by heart) sang out; the rest of us followed along, while Katherine (the only one who’s seen it—twice), narrated and described, and Hardin pitched for Revolution Now!. So many strangers bonding.
Special thanks to Natalie for the use of the elegant and spacious clubhouse (we’ll read there again); and to Sandra for the food and drink; and to Hallie for my wonderful T-shirt, and to all three for the photos. It was a night I’ll remember.
THAT SAID:
After a decade reading every week, this year twice or more, I’m taking a few weeks off. Anyone who’d like to carry on while I’m recovering, volunteer to host. It’s easy. Pick a play, date, time, and place, invite the group (or other friends), and read. I’ll coach you through the process. I’ll most likely join you (if invited), but I’m weary of responsibility and worn down by disappointment.
EXCEPTION:
I’ll post one more Event—a non-Event, actually. A poll to measure interest.
Otherwise, stay tuned. I’ll be back—albeit with less frequency (two or three a month).
Meanwhile, I’d appreciate suggestions of good times and places to read, plays you’d like to read, how to involve more readers, and any other thoughts you’d like to share—like what would encourage you to join us now and then (or read with other friends).
I’ll also be posting my reflections on the past and plans for the future of Cold Reads. Sometimes a great notion takes time to find fertile soil.
Thanks again.
George
